Kings Canyon

Kings Canyon entailed a three-and-a-half hour walk around the rim. None of us expected how beautiful it would be, the variety of landscape, vegetation, etc.

Amazing how plants find water where it is so hot and dry...
At the far end of the canyon is the 'Garden of Eden' with a small pool of water, tropical plants, and several birds. Lots of shade, but that doesn't mean cool... it was hot.

Dating back several hundred million years are these ripples in the sand, now frozen into exposed bits of rock...
The walk around the rim offered different scenes around every corner. The white part of cliff face on the left is evidence of the most recent significant fracture of some rock (1930s).
Erosion of the rock here looks like the sphinx. .
